The true beginnings of the <FONT

SIZE="+1">Wolf's Dragoons starts far from the Inner Sphere. In

2980 the Clans split into two factions; the Wardens and the

Crusaders. The Crusaders wished to invade and conquer the Inner

Sphere while the Wardens wanted to protect the Inner Sphere from

outside invasion. Until 3000 neither faction had enough support to

force the Grand Council to take action concerning the Inner Sphere.

At this time the Kahn of the Ghost Bears, a Crusader, began to build

strength in the Council, realizing the inevitability of the invasion

the Kahn of Clan Wolf, a Warden, proposed a recon mission to

determine the strength of the Inner Sphere military. This "recon"

group was to be disguised as a mercenary unit and hire out to the

various houses to gain military information. The Khan of Clan Wolf

attempted to staff the "recon" group with people loyal to the Warden

faction but political maneuvering by other Khans, loyal to the

Crusaders, prevented the use of a force composed completely of <FONT

SIZE="+1">"trueborn" warrior; believing to sabotage the

mission and discredit Clan Wolf. Thus, the Wolf's

Dragoons were created using inferior <FONT

SIZE="+1">"freebirth" warriors. Command was giving to two

brothers, Jamie and Joshua Wolf. The rest of the fighting unit came

from volunteers form both freebirth and trueborn warriors. Included

in the group of trueborn warriors was a rapidly rising young warrior

named Natasha Kerensky and an elder warrior named Cranston Snord.

April 11, 3005 in the unheard of star

system of Delos, of the Federated Suns; there was a monumental event

unfolding. How far reaching this event is to be is still to be see.

For this date marks the actual invasion of the Inner Sphere by the

Clans. Here the Dragoon’s established their first contract with Ian

Davion. Bringing five full Mech regiments, an orbital repair facility

and a full complement of support squads, the Dragoons caused

something of a stir in the Inner Sphere. Ian Davion immediately

employed the Dragoons to stop the sporadic raids by Capellan forces

across the border. In 3006 Cranston Snord "split" with the Dragoons

and formed the Cranston Snord’s Irregulars, for the sole purpose of

recovering Star League antiques. Snord’s outfit acted as an

additional set of eyes for the Dragoon’s intelligence net work. For

three years the Dragoons proved themselves to be an elite fighting

force, effortlessly defeating Capellan forces in every engagement.

The Dragoons retired from the front for ten months. This was the

first of the Dragoons "supply" runs. The Dragoons returned to the

front with new equipment and new warriors. This drove the

intelligence community into a frenzy, not only could they not trace

the source of the Dragoons equipment they couldn’t obtain any

intelligence on the mercenary unit.

In a surprising move in 3010, the Dragoons

failed to renew their contract with House Davion. Instead they signed

with House Liao. For the next tree years the Dragoons distinguished

themselves in a series of campaigns. The unit was placed into

garrison duty, the enforced inactivity caused many incidents of

violence and force Jamie and Joshua to take action. All the trouble

makers were placed into a single unit under the command of Natasha

Kerensky, thus the famed Black Widow Squadron was formed.

In the early part of 3014, the Dragoons

signed their third contract. This time the contract was not with a

house but with Anton Marik. Anton attempted to over throw his brother

in a bid for control of the Free World League. As the rebellion

collapsed, Anton Marik arrested Joshua Wolf and 27 staff officers and

their dependents. Holding them hostage Anton thought to force Jamie

Wolf to his will. Using the Dragoon’s main forces as a diversion

Jamie sent The Black Widow Squadron to rescue the hostages. Marching

her forces through a napalm fed inferno surrounding Anton’s fortified

estate, Natasha destroyed the compound only to find Joshua and the

others murdered. The resulting rage lasted two days, destroying every

civic building and killing every man loyal to Anton. Anton himself

was killed during the initial raid.

Instead of attacking the Dragoon’s, Janos

Marik offered the Dragoon’s their fourth contract. The Dragoon’s

duties during this contract was mostly raids and counter strikes. But

in 3019 Janos did call for a deep strike into the Lyran Commonwealth

at the Hesperus II BattleMech facility. The attack was almost

successful, except a highly placed spy leaked the Dragoon’s real

target to the Lyran Commonwealth. When the Dragoon’s finally

assaulted the facility, instead of just the 24th Lyran Guard, they

also found the Third Royal Guards, the Hsien’s Hotheads and the

Hanson’s Roughriders. Demoralized and badly blooded the Dragoon’s

again entered deep space on their second supply run. While with Clan

Wolf, Jamie and Natasha were charged with reading the Inner Sphere

with the eventual invasion by the Clans. Along with new equipment,

Jamie also obtained the records of an undiscovered Star League cache

on the Federated Suns world of Outreach. Upon their return, Jamie

began to recruit mechwarrior into the depleted unit. The screening

was so thorough that three ROM agents were turned down.

The Lyran Commonwealth was the recipient of

the Dragoon’s fifth contract. Here the Dragoon’s performed border

raids against the Draconis Combine. Here Jamie Wolf’s life was saved

by Minobu Tetsuhara. Finding Jamie’s crippled Archer, Tetsuhara

ordered his men to spare the warrior so that he might live to die

gloriously in battle.

In 3022, Jamie evoked the termination

clause of his contract and signed with House Kurita. In this

contract, the Dragoon’s helped form elite Ryuken units commanded by

Minobu Tetsuhara. Because of political maneuvering by Grieg Samsonov,

in 3028 Tetsuhara was ordered to destroy the Dragoon’s and the man he

had befriended. The two forces met on Misery, here the Dragoon’s

defeated the Eighth Sword of Light, five Ryuken regiments and three

Galedon Regular regiments. The Dragoon’s also managed to capture

Minobu Tetsuhara. Instead of accepting Jamie’s offer of a position

with the Dragoon’s, Tetsuhara committed suppuku with Jamie as his

second during the ceremony.

Signing with the Federated Suns again, the

Dragoon’s took positions on Glenmora, Harrow’s Sun and Wapakoneta.

Then three days before the wedding of Hanse Davion to Melissa

Steiner, Jamie confronted the Coordinator of the Draconis Combine

with the death of Tetsuhara. He also swore vengeance against the

Combine. With this maneuver, Jamie prevented the Draconis Combine

from entering the Fourth Succession War. Because of the Coordinators

hatred for and desire to destroy the Dragoon’s many Snake Regiments

were pulled to attack the Dragoon’s.

By the end of the Fourth Succession War,

the Dragoons were nearly finished as a military unit. Once where the

Dragoons fielded nearly six regiments, they now fielded less than one

mix regiment. Jamie at once began to rebuild the Dragoons, and by the

end of 3031 the Black Widow Battalion was accepting contracts. In

planning for the future, Jamie began to <FONT

SIZE="+1">"adopt" the orphans created during the recent war.

He also opened the Dragoons base on Outreach for training to any unit

in the Inner Sphere. By 3037 Outreach became the hiring center for

mercenaries in the Inner Sphere.

When the clans invaded in 3049, the <FONT

SIZE="+1">Wolf's Dragoons pulled back to their operating base

on Outreach. When the Clan recalled all <FONT

SIZE="+1">"Bloodnamed" warriors in a Grand Council to vote on

the replacement of the iKahn Leo Showers, killed by an Inner Sphere

aerospace fighter pilot, Natasha Kerensky returned. During the

invasion lull, Jamie Wolf revealed to the leaders of the Inner Sphere

the origins of the Dragoons. When the fighting resumed Hanse Davion

held the Dragoons in reserve until the Clans attempted to take the

Draconis Capitol of Luthien. Then Hanse Davion honored a promise to

the War Leader of the Draconis Combine, Theodore Kurita, and sent the

Dragoons and the Kell Hounds to stop the Clans. With these two

groups, the clans were stopped just miles from the capitol city.

Again Jamie Wolf bent to rebuilding the

Dragoons, but with the split between Clan and Inner Sphere warriors a

tinderbox was brewing. Elson Novacat was the spark that ignited the

tensions. Elson, a captured clansmen, attempted to overthrow Jamie.

Again, though nearly eight years old, Jamie Wolf orchestrated the

defeat of the rebels. During the fighting, Jamie proved his prowess

as a mechwarrior by climbing into his blue and gold Archer. Once

again Jamie threw himself into the rebuilding of the <FONT

SIZE="+1">Wolf's Dragoons.
